Before arrival plan ahead and prepare
Incoming Erasmus+ students might need a visa depending on the country they come from and if their stay exceeds 90 days. To check if a visa is required, please visit the website of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
If the stay is longer than 90 days, Erasmus+ students should apply for a visa before entering the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia. For information specific to your case contact the nearest diplomatic-consular representation of the Republic of North Macedonia.
Visa application procedure
All information about the visa application procedure is available on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Students who need a stay for more than 90 days are required to apply for a Long-Stay visa.
The incoming students can submit a visa application to the diplomatic-consular representation of the Republic of North Macedonia no longer than six months and at least 15 days before the start of the intended trip.
The visa application is submitted in person. In specific cases, the visa application can be submitted by an authorized person with power of attorney.

Documents
To secure a visa, you will need at least the following documents (according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs):
- Visa Application Form
- Valid Travel Document (the validity period of the travel document should exceed that of the visa by at least three months to some cases 2 years)
- Acceptance Letter issued by the host institution
- Learning Agreement (Study program) - (translated into macedonian)
- Criminal Record Certificate (with Apostille, translation, and notarial seal)
- Proof that you have no pending criminal proceedings at your country of residence ( translated)
- Erasmus Inter-institutional agreement (from your Erasmus office)
- Application for for temporary residence permit (Form 2, MOI)
- Proof of language skills
- Proof of accommodation or proof of financial means for accommodation
- Proof of means of subsistence, or proof that the applicant is going to receive a scholarship (Letter of Acceptance/Agreement/bank report... - translated with notarial seal)
- Private medical insurance (translated with notarial seal)
- Proof of paid fees
- Additional documents (1 or 2 color photographs - 3,5 x 4,5 cm, etc.). For the additional documents please consult with the diplomatic-consular representation of the Republic of North Macedonia in your country.
***The list of required documents can sometimes differ depending on where you are applying for the visa. Always email the closest diplomatic-consular representation to ask for information and an updated list of the latest required documents by them before going there to submit the documents.
DURING THE MOBILITY
Temporary Residence Permit Application at Police:
Documents you will need for the application (check for an updated list at the Police) :
- Photocopy of the initial Registration card/ Application for residence
- The document they give you from the North Macedonian embassy after recieving your visa
- Passport copy (translated & notarized)
- Rental contract (Notarized)
- Application form that you are going to fill out at the police station
- Bank Payments receipts that shows you paid the ID card fees - approximately 40€ (Cooperative Bank dosn't require macedonian ID but you can try other banks as well)
- Acceptence Letter (The one in macedonian language)
